How to support small businesses
I haven’t said much across our social media platforms about COVID-19, mainly because I’ve been scared. I’m still not sure I have the right words to describe the uneasy feeling that this pandemic has brought to the surface. Though I am unsure what the next while looks like for Wandering Fern Café, I am taking this time to reflect on our first year of business and build on that. I’ve been feeling a bit lost, not really knowing how to help our community, my family, or our friends. However, I am so grateful to be surrounded by like-minded small business owners and have loved seeing the coffee community come together. Seeing everyone act as one has inspired me to put up a post of solidarity, supporting those coffee roasters who are supporting those currently practicing social distancing at home.
While supporting small businesses has always been at the forefront of our decision-making, there is no time more important than the present to support the specialty coffee industry. If we don’t actively make an effort to support the small businesses in our towns and cities, they may not survive, and that would be heartbreaking.
I’ve compiled a list of coffee roasters near and far, all of which I personally love, and support their product. I have one or more of these roaster's delicious brews in my cupboard at any given time, much to the chagrin of my partner. He doesn’t drink coffee. I know, I’m not sure what’s wrong with him either. Anyways, the hardest decision of my morning currently is choosing which bean to use, its tough. This list is definitely not exhaustive, I know there are a ton of other roasters around the country and globe that could be added and I will try and add as I come across them.
